Roulette Number Patterns: Luck or Strategy?

Got into an interesting debate the other night about roulette strategies, specifically about betting on number patterns. Some swear by choosing numbers based on past spins, thinking there's a pattern or a 'hot' streak, while others reckon it's all down to luck and the patterns are just coincidence.
I'm on the fence. Sometimes it feels like certain numbers are luckier than others, but I know the wheel has no memory. Still, it's fun to test out theories and see if any patterns emerge.
